Why do we think this is the world’s best TechSheet? Because it is totally configurable! You are a lefty? No problem!!! Our TechSheet 1.0 is configurable – BOOM! Follow the light gray cutting lines to move the Grid (aka TechSheet 1.0) to the right, the Notes section to the left and place the Color Spectrum in the middle. This allows our TechSheet to accommodate any tasting situation and any user preference. BOOM! One Grid to Rule Them All! Now for the specifics…
Glass Placemat
Starting with our six-glass placemat. This is THE standard when it comes to tasting. A flight of Whiskey, Beer or Wine ranges from three to six selections in one tasting session. To keep you organized, we have numbered the Placemat to match up with the Notes by glass. You can also cut them individually if you are not tasting six selections or if you need more room to, you know, organize your space. BOOM!
The Color Spectrum
Our Color Spectrum has 28 color reference points covering the full gamut of important colors found in all three categories: Whiskey, Beer and Wine. You can quickly and easily color-match up to seven shades of Yellow, Red, Purple and Brown in our specialized polygon system. This system makes the colors clear and easy to reference so you can quickly identify the most applicable color(s) and move on to the aromas of the selections you are tasting – the best part! BOOM!
Aromas Wheel or Aromas Grid?
We have arranged our aromas in a Grid format, rather than a wheel. We find the term ‘Aromas wheel’ confusing so we organized our Grid in a left to right, up to down, linear way. Any taster, whether just starting out or expert, can follow the steps as they read the Aromas Grid. For example, is the Nose: Clean, Faulty, Oxidized, or Corked? How Intense is are the aromas? Delicate, Moderate or Powerful? Are there any Chemical aromas? And so on as you move through each section of the Grid. Our tasting Grid allows multiple people to follow your lead, if you are teaching a class on “The Fundamentals of Tasting”, or at their own pace through each section, in a linear way, from start to finish without confusion. BOOM!
Deduction Grid
Located in the middle of the Aromas Grid, our Deduction Grid is again, a simple to follow, linear left to right Grid. You can easily work your way through the Grid to cover the basics like Tannins, Acidity, Body, etc. in a quick manner with a simple Low, Med or High rating system. The Deduction Grid also organizes the Sweetness and the Fruit Character directly below it, allowing you to taste, take notes and gather all the information you need efficiently for each selection – BOOM!
Taking Notes
If you choose to cut the TechSheet 1.0, you can move the Notes block any place you want – left, right, or even remove it if you like to take your notes digitally. But what if you really like to write and need more room for Notes? No problem!! We also supply you with extra Notes sheets that measure 8.5” by 11” and are double sided – we like to call this our Rapid-Fire Notes sheet. This gives you an extra 24 tasting Notes worth of space to work with – BOOM!
Tasting Standing up?
We’ve also thought of that! Since we supply you with a Rapid-Fire Note sheet (8.5” by 11”) you can simply fold the Rapid-Fire Notes sheet in an accordion fashion giving you 48 quick Notes spaces. You can then simply tuck your Color Spectrum, Aromas Grid, and Deduction Grid inside the folds so that you can quickly have a reference point available when you need it. No need to carry around an awkward full size 11” by 17” piece of paper! BOOM!
