Best Whisk(e)y Tasting Glasses
The Glencairn “Copita”
This is by far my favorite glass to use for tastings. The glass has a small opening that concentrates the aromas very well. I love the stem for looking at color and I love that it comes with a lid. This is my preference and first choice. It makes a great addition when doing a flight of whiskey.

The Glencairn “Dram Style”
This glass is considered the standard when it comes to tasting whiskey and is great for individual tastings or for flights. This is my second choice, but only by preference, due to this one not having a stem. I believe a stem makes it easier to look at the color but this is a great glass and a staple in the industry, which is why it’s my number 2. This 6oz size is also called the “Wee” glass.

Comes in a 12oz format so they’re much bigger than the “Wee Drams” noted above. These glasses would also be great for a tasting - go light on the pour! - or to enjoy a nice dram of your favorite whiskey, fireside, with a nice cigar. Also makes a great housewarming gift!

Style glass is beautiful. She’s more expensive, of course, as most amazing things are. If you’re a whisky buff I would recommend this glass. It’s thicker, heavier and has a great feel in the hand. A true delight for anyone who entertains!

Riedel Vinum Whisky
Riedel has been around for more then 260 years and this is where the quality dramatically goes up. You’ll be able to tell right away it’s elegance and glass quality is superior to most. I am a big fan of their glassware across all categories and this whiskey glass is very good - I’ve also used it in a restaurant setting.

The Sommelier tasting glass is a level above of Vinum since it is hand blown and that why it’s so expensive but it you’ve got the money this is where it’s at!

This is high quality for the money and another strong option to add to your collection. This is considered an alternative to Riedel when it comes to a Stem-based glass, not has expensive but the quality is there!

This glass is a great tasting glass that is versatile across Whiskey and wine and the price is driven since it’s a crystal glass and a great alternative to the Riedel Glassware.

The Peugeot
“Les Impitoyables”
This glass has been around since the 80s. I have used it only for late nights when I want to have a nice dram and do no want to put ice in my spirit of choice. It’s a great concept - the cooling plate really does the job. Word of caution however as the cooling plate makes looking at the color of the spirit more challenging so wouldn’t be the best option for tasting. This is a DRINKING glass!
